At Bytevid Social, we are always looking for ways to improve user interaction and enhance the sense of community on our platform. Based on feedback and our vision for a more engaging experience, we’ve made two major updates:

2️⃣ Introducing a New Reaction System

These changes are designed to encourage deeper connections, meaningful interactions, and a more personal social experience for all users.

Why the Shift to a Friend System?

Previously, Bytevid Social operated with a following system, similar to traditional social media platforms. While following allows for content discovery, it doesn’t always foster real engagement between users.

With the new friend system, users can send and accept friend requests, creating mutual connections rather than one-sided follows. This shift enables:

✅ A stronger sense of community

Reactions: Express Yourself Beyond Just Likes

Engagement is more than just comments and likes—that’s why we’ve introduced a reaction system. Now, instead of just liking a post, you can express a range of emotions through multiple reactions.

? Laugh ? – React to something funny
? Surprise ? – Share your amazement
? Sad ? – Empathize with difficult moments
? Angry ? – Show disagreement or frustration

Reactions make it easier to engage with content in a way that truly reflects how you feel.

How We Implemented These Features

? Friend System:

• Users now send and accept friend requests instead of just following others.
• Only friends can see each other’s private posts, enhancing privacy controls.
• Friend requests are managed in the settings panel, allowing users to customize their connections.

? Reaction System:

• Each post and comment now supports multiple reaction types.
• The system is optimized for real-time updates, ensuring reactions appear instantly.
• Users can change their reaction at any time for flexibility.
